Our Restore Facial Serum contains sea buckthorn oil, jojoba oil, and an essential oil blend of calendula and chamomile. Let's break down why this oil is perfect for oily skin. Oily skin is often shiny & slick looking due to the over abundance of sebum, and acne appears when this sebum clogs the pores. However, the catch is, you can have oily skin and it be dehydrated, or oily skin that's red and sensitive. This leads to a damaged skin barrier. With this type of skin and its condition, it's so important that we nourish the skin gently but still give the skin room to breath and allow its' barrier to be restored. We accomplish this through ligthweight, fatty oils with a lower linoleic acid content that help support the skin barrier WITHOUT clogging the pores.
Sea buckthorn oil is has a 35% linoleic acid content and is a skin care powerhouse! It's full of vitamin C, omega's 3, 6, 9, and 7 (which supports skin repair and regeneration), and absorbs readily into the skin. Combining it with jojoba oil, which is a natural wax-like substance resembling the skin's barrier, creates a reinforcement for the skin barrier to protect and soothe it. Our goal with these oils is to accomplish a balanced oil-water ratio within the skin layers to reduce the sebum produced that gets trapped in your pores. And with this oil combo, you'll start noticing more glowing and balanced skin, with time.
We do include two essential oils, chamomile and calendula, to help soothe red, irritated skin and encourage skin recovery.
