Updated HSEN Skin Care Routine

In my recent blog post about skin type, I posted routines to follow based on your particular skin type. Below, I have posted an updated skin care routine based on the information I have learned since joining esthetician school! Not to worry, there's hardly any changes, I just want to make this information as accessible to all of you as possible!

How to treat Dry, Mature, & Combination skin types:

  • With carrier oils that are not oversaturating, but full of a moderate amount of linoleic acid and oils that reinforce the skin barrier to combat dry, rough, red skin. Some oils that will help accomplish this are argan, rosehip, and jojoba oil. Herbal essential oils or extracts such as sandalwood, rose, and chamomile can help soothe irritation, provide moisture and support your skin barrier's repair process. The goal with these skin types, especially combination, mature, and dehydrated skin, is to balance the skin's production of sebum and restore any trans epidermal water loss

How to treat Oily skin types:

  • With light weight, fatty oils that contain lower amounts of linoleic acid, like apricot or camellia oil, that help nourish the skin with supportive lipids without clogging the pores. A good reinforcement oil, like jojoba, is a great complimentary oil that helps balance and restore the barrier. Some herbal essential oils or extracts like yarrow, rosemary, calendula, and chamomile are great additions to combat the inflammatory processes, regulate oil production, have anti-microbial properties, and are gentle and soothing for the skin.

Natural skin care is more than just a skin care movement, but rather, it's a personal journey of more women taking back their confidence through natural, organic ingredients. The knowledge of ingredients has never been more crucial. It is my passion to help more women understand the 'why' behind every ingredient that goes into our products. I have spent countless hours doing research and taking courses so that one day in the future when I own my own spa, if you happen to be laying on my spa table, you can feel confident in your skin.

If you're interested in a particular course that inspired my skin care lines, or simply want to grow in knowledge yourself, I highly recommend Stress and Skin for Holistic Estheticians Course. Jessica teaches an incredible course that explains everything from the biological make up of your skin to specific oils and their properties to aromatherapy. I received a certificate from this course in January of 2025.

2024 Market Season

This year was our first year participating in farmers markets! We had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of Lightfoot Farms Market in Millington, TN for the entire year, and still have two left in November and December. This year has truly been a blessing to us and we look forward to 2025!
